Why Parents Avoid Disciplining Kids

Let’s set a story first to understand the matter. The scene is between a mother and a child. The child is studying at local kids play school and the mother is a homemaker.

Preschooler: Mom, I want to go upstairs to play with my cousins. Can I?
Mother: No, you will get slipped from the stairs.
Preschooler: I know how to climb stairs. You don’t have to worry.
Mother: I told you NO.
Preschooler: No, I will go. Otherwise, I will not talk to you.
Mother: Okay, go! (in a defeated tone) But be careful.

Why mother submitted to his wish? Because she doesn’t want to waste her energy into a pointless fight. If she has limited her child’s wish, she must have faced violent behavior from the kid.
Young kids, even adults, don’t want their wishes to be suppressed. They either rebel or depress against the imposed restrictions. Sometimes, they even become numb or unresponsive to the teachings of their parents. All this happens when parents follow spanking, chiding, and aggressive words.

Thus, making parents dreadful to teach discipline. Creche in Noida reported that kids, who are repeatedly scorned by their parents, are at the higher end of misbehaving.

For What Reasons Parents Pull Back From Teaching Discipline?

1.    Unpredictable Mistakes: We all commit mistake, so why it becomes big when kids play school children do it. This thought makes parents ignore such mistakes and instead teach them to rectify mistakes. Mistakes can be big or small. It can be breaking a cup of coffee due to imbalance or dropping a smartphone on the floor. Big mistakes include embarrassing parents outside by shouting or bothering strangers.
What to do? Instead of scolding them in public, you need to be smart. Ask them if they do not behave properly, he/she will be left behind. Problem solved!
2.    Lack of attention given to children: Many times, parents limit their right to teach discipline because they lack the information about their behavior. Some parents also don’t get time to interact with their toddlers. When you continuously chide them, it irritates her/him.
What to do? The best way is to ignore their small misbehaviors. For example- ignoring annoying sounds when you are working even when you told them to keep quiet. Eventually, the kids play school child will exhaust and become silent.

Want to teach your kid moral values? Enroll your kid at a Creche in Noida that gives personal attention to each child and monthly reporting to parents.
3.    Feeble State of Mind: Preschoolers at the age of 3 have a feeble state of mind. They are less responsive to what you are teaching. Their ability to understand and analyze things is low. You can’t expect them to understand your teachings in exactly the same manner as you understand.

What to do? Take it easy and give them time to build understanding. There is no use of flooding your kid with discipline lessons.

4.    Let them make childhood memories: The age between 3 years to 6 years, is the age of exploration of the newly found world. With corrects exposure, children get to visualize the beauty of nearby people and the environment. Stopping their creative eyes from witnessing the actual scenery will directly impact their emotional development.

What you can do? You can help them in constructing memories. Like, you can request their participation in doing making bed, serving food, flying kite, teaching how to greet & reply, or any other creative ideas. Imagine, how kids play school children will look serving a large bowl of food. Cute! Right? Even if they drop the food by mistake, don’t scorn but tell them not to repeat it again.
